Who are we, what is our context

BECI stands for the synergy between the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and the Union des Entreprises de Bruxelles. This partnership marked the beginning of an enhanced mission to champion the interests of Brussels’ businesses, fostering a vibrant ecosystem under the BECI umbrella.

BECI stands as a premier, multilingual, and independent non-profit association, driven by private law and rooted in a rich tradition of interprofessional collaboration. With a dedicated team, it embodies a beacon of enterprise support and advocacy in Brussels.

Today, BECI acts as the voice of approximately 33,000 businesses spanning a vast array of sectors within the Brussels region.

"Connect, share, and co-create" form the triad of BECI’s renewed objectives, signaling a shift towards a more engaging, future-facing relationship with its members. This strategic direction is bold, particularly in an era where traditional membership models are under scrutiny in favor of a more transactional, service-specific engagement. However, BECI’s commitment to fostering a sense of ownership among its members over their Chamber of Commerce underscores a profound belief in its role as a pivotal platform for business development and growth.

Unique in its approach within the Belgian context, BECI is singularly focused on nurturing an exclusive community of members, setting it apart as a leader in Chamber of Commerce innovation.

Furthermore, BECI’s priorities have expanded to include a robust ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) framework, with ambitions to achieve not only ISO 9001 certification but also to establish itself as an ESG-compliant organization. BECI aims to be the key hub for the business community in Brussels and to promote Brussels as a vibrant and prosperous metropolitan Region. Our mission is to make our members to succeed in being economically and ESG compliant companies. We work relentlessly to connect our members with new opportunities for trade, investment and partnerships in Brussels and internationally.

 

Our strategy

The Brussels Chamber of Commerce (BECI) is embracing a transformative journey back to its foundational principles, positioning itself as a quintessential membership organization built on the ethos of “by members, for members.” This commitment distinguishes BECI from a multitude of other business associations, underlining its unique approach to membership.

At the heart of BECI’s philosophy is the concept of corporate membership, an inclusive model that extends membership benefits to every employee within a member company. This democratic approach ensures that the advantages of BECI membership permeate throughout the entire organization, allowing all employees to engage with and benefit from the resources, networking opportunities, and support services BECI offers.

The Brussels Chamber of Commerce (BECI) goes back to her roots and aims to be a genuine membership organization “by members for members”. Unlike many other business membership organizations, BECI membership is a corporate one, which means that any employee of a member company can take advantage of the membership.
