Digitalising our businesses

Businesses and the self-employed did not wait for the COVID-19 crisis to realise that digitalisation was a key issue for their future. But while they were aware of this, many of them had not yet taken the plunge: what are my needs, what opportunities should I seize as a priority, what budget should I allocate and where should I start?

The current situation is a splendid opportunity to understand all the development prospects offered by digitalisation, and in many respects.

E-learning was on everyone's mind, but now everyone is being called upon, willingly or not, to organise their training courses remotely, to evaluate the most appropriate tools for achieving the expected results and, above all, to realise that it works and that it offers numerous advantages. To survive, restaurants are being forced to opt for online delivery services and to think about how they can raise their profile on the internet, particularly through paid advertising and social networks. Small retailers who didn't dare take the leap are launching their first e-shops. These are just a few obvious examples. There's also the famous bookshop Filigrane, which took advantage of this period to set up a future project: launching its own e-shop!

But behind these opportunities lie a range of issues that should not be underestimated. Legal aspects (personal data management, terms and conditions of sale, etc.), logistical aspects (deliveries, secure payment, right of return), process security and much more besides. So, while the urgency of the situation has the merit of forcing companies to put the digital issue at the heart of their action, we must not overlook the importance of integrating these changes into a strategy: development strategy, commercial and financial strategy.

European Learning Experience Platform (EULEP)

BECI is participating in the development of a European learning platform with its social promotion school, CVO SEMPER.

To quote a real cliché, employers and employees are having to adapt to technological change more than ever.

Whereas a few years ago, Artificial Intelligence was ‘far from me’, technology offers opportunities to get ahead of the competition by being even more efficient and flexible. Virtual reality can also offer interesting advantages, not only in more technical sectors such as construction or health, but also in services.

But how and where can employers find accessible and innovative training in this area?

EULEP is a European experience and learning platform that brings together 20 organisations from 8 European countries. Its aim is to make lifelong learning more attractive through innovative training modules focused on the labour market, to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and to integrate professional training into regional economic development strategies in a sustainable way.

BECI is working closely with CVO Semper on the development and introduction of training modules in artificial intelligence, virtual reality and social innovation. Both companies and teachers/trainers will have the opportunity to develop their skills in this area, to use them later in training courses and to pass them on to their colleagues. The project will run until June 2026.
