‘For a sustainable port area’

For the attention of political party leaders with a view to the negotiations to form the next Brussels regional government

The future of the 116-hectare port area is an essential issue, not only for the companies based there, but also for the Port of Brussels, its shareholders, and by extension for the whole of the Region and its inhabitants.

In fact, the stakes are such that they deserve priority attention, not only in terms of jobs, but also in terms of the necessary supplies for the Region, such as goods, construction materials, recycling, energy/hydrogen, consumables, etc.).

Therefore, the Brussels Port Community, hereinafter the CPB, together with its members, i.e. the companies active in the Canal Zone, wanted to make our commitments and expectations known to the representatives of the regional democratic parties, some of whom will be called upon to negotiate a new government agreement after the regional elections on 9 June.

This is why we have drawn up a short memorandum entitled ‘for a sustainable port area’ which sets out our point of view through five commitments on our part coupled with five demands with regard to the future regional government.

Our memorandum, available in French and Dutch, has been sent to the Presidents of all the democratic parties represented in the Brussels Parliament, as well as to all our members, including the Port of Brussels.

It is also available to everyone on our website www.cpb-bhg.brussels.

We sincerely hope you have an excellent read.
