When technology evolves at lightning speed, our careers are transformed too. EULEP, the European Learning Experience Platform, helps address these changes. The project facilitates adaptable and continuous vocational training and promotes professional teaching as a response leading to employment.

Technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and social innovation were once perceived as futuristic – but are now at the heart of the challenges facing businesses. Continuous vocational training is essential to address these developments and to keep employees abreast of the latest innovations.

Many employees unfortunately regard vocational training as ‘mandatory’ and thus insufficiently motivating. But if our businesses are to remain competitive, it is vital to stimulate and promote a culture of innovation – a culture that encourages employees to actively contribute to the development of the company in which they work.

According to Joëlle Evenepoel, Secretary General of the Brussels Chamber of Commerce, “it is natural to be somewhat sceptical about the changes brought by new technologies. Nevertheless, it is essential to facilitate training in these disciplines through practical modules that provide genuine benefits in employees’ everyday lives”. It is against this background that BECI has chosen to participate in the European Learning Experience Platform, a European project aiming to make high-quality, vocational training more attractive by highlighting digital skills.

EULEP – a response to technological challenges

EULEP brings together twenty organisations in eight European countries, all working together for a common goal: developing and adapting skills in a changing world. And the platform does not merely offer classic training modules. It offers innovative learning pathways addressing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, but also integrating skills linked to social innovation.

BECI and EULEP – facilitating access to digital training

Adult training is one of the main areas in which BECI has invested, creating two social promotion institutions: CVO SEMPER (Dutch-speaking) and EPFC (French-speaking). They welcome a total of almost 30,000 students every year.

For BECI, teaching and continuing vocational training provide a clear route to (re)employment and to fulfilling employers’ skills needs. Through its membership of EULEP, BECI aims to facilitate access to vocational training in the fields of artificial intelligence and virtual reality. The platform also offers modules to help learners develop skills essential in the digital age. These modules are developed in partnership with CVO SEMPER and a network of European partners.

The platform is planned for launch before the end of 2024.
